Hanna Weselius (b. 1972) finished her MA in photography at Aalto University in 2001. Since the early 2000’s, she has been an active member of the photographic community as a practitioner, a writer, a speaker and a university teacher, taking part in several exhibitions and projects in Finland and abroad, publishing both in Finland and internationally.
Weselius completed her Ph.D, specializing in editorial portraiture, in 2014. Her current research interests include photography, photojournalism, visual cultural studies, gender studies, and media studies. Weselius started as a full-time University Lecturer of photography at Aalto University, Helsinki, in 2015.
In addition to working with photography, she writes fiction. Her first novel, Alma! was published in 2016.
